Be moved by Tudor-era chanting and old stone walls
Experience the tranquil and breathtaking vocal beauty of the Katherine Road Quartet, a foursome of singers who love Renaissance polyphony and its spooky, transcendent, space-creating qualities. Combining a dynamic balance of tone of voice, emotion and restraint, this quartet will share a series of half-hour-long, Tudor-era contemplative chants to listeners who join them in and around the old stone confines of Gaol Garden (hiding in plain site beside the historic Waterloo County Jail and Governor’s House ). Don’t be afraid to shut your eyes.
The Katherine Road Quartet are Sheila Dietrich, soprano; Sarah Pearson, alto; Joel VanderZee, tenor; and Rich Hrytzak, baritone; and they perform in offbeat places and spaces like yoga studios and living rooms.
