Let Lucy Barnett measure your mindfulness
MindControl measures the user’s mindfulness using an electroencephalography (EEG) unit and a micro-processor, displaying the results through a spectrum of coloured lights.
Barnett explains : “The physical project uses a consumer-grade EEG unit paired with a simple micro- processor. Every second or so, the headset scans the user for brain waves, passes them through a proprietary algorithm and sends them via radio-frequency to the processor. Depending on the value sensed, the lights attached to the unit change in colour. The light array displays twelve different colours depending on the mindfulness value attributed values received. The lights are chained in a ring configuration and set into the eye sockets of an oversized foam skull; it was this element of the project that the user focused on.”
